What Customers Say About Beach Boys - 20 Good Vibrations, The Greatest Hits (Volume 1):

If you like the Beach boys, you are sure to love this album. This album brings together all the all time favorites from the Beach Boys. Its got all the right tunes and grooves. The classics like Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, and Good Vibrations are all included in this CD that is guaranteed to get your blood pumping. Its hard to resist getting up and dancing to these wonderful tracks. It makes you feel as if you live right there, ten feet from the beautiful ocean. I highly recommend this album to any person of any age, its safe for kids, another perk of these amazing tracks.

The old Beach Boys hits, digitally remastered, are better than ever. We use it to have "Dance Parties" with the grandchildren. They need to be exposed to good music early.

If you're a fan of the Beach Boys, then this is the first half of an "Essential" collection of their hits (the second being vol. two). Either you like the Beach Boys, or you don't. if you do, then this is a must have CD.

Shame on Capitol. You're better off starting with 'Sounds of Summer' if you are a new or casual Beach Boys fan. Their harmonies, the sheer genius that is Brian Wilson, and their melodies are some of the best in rock and pop history. At 30 songs, that disc has 77 minutes of material, compared to the 50 minutes offered here. As a result, they've had countless compilations released over the years, dating back to the 1960s. But the problem is, and why I'm giving it 2.5 stars, is because there's not enough essential material. Sure, it's got the bare bone basic hits, including 'Surfin' Safari,' 'Shut Down,' 'Little Deuce Coupe,' 'Surfer Girl,' 'Surfin' USA,' 'God Only Knows' and even their 1989 comeback #1 hit 'Kokomo,' from the soundtrack to the film 'Cocktail.'What's here is all worthy of praise. How sad.

It's essential, and any Beach Boys fan needs to own these songs in some form. Read on for further details.Well, I will tell you, it's not great. The problem is, it's missing far too much. This is for new fans only who need a cheap, quick entry point into the Beach Boys legendary catalogue.

The Beach Boys are a classic band. Another blown opportunity from Capitol.Overall, this is a solid starting point. EVERY SONG HERE IS ESSENTIAL. Why only include 20 songs, when you can have at least 25. And I'm not even touching on the Brother Records years of 1970-1987. There's plenty of better options if you are a casual fan. And in 1999, the group's label, Capitol Records, decided to release yet another greatest hits collection, '20 Good Vibrations.' So how does it measure up. That's right, 27 more minutes of music.

'The Warmth of the Sun,' 'Break Away,' 'Wendy,' 'Let Him Run Wild,' 'Girl Don't Tell Me,' 'God Only Knows,' 'All Dressed Up for School,' 'Wonderful,' 'That's Not Me,' and countless others are all missing in action on this so called 'Greatest Hits' album. And, even more irritating, at 49:35 long, many of those songs, if not, all of those songs, could have fit, making this the definitive first stint at Capitol Records collection (they were resigned again to Capitol in 1988). I think that unanimously wins the better starting point. This isn't necessary anymore. Otherwise, this is 100% unnecessary.

Like millions of other Americans, I grew up with the Beach Boys as the soundtrack to summer. But this CD has spent a lot of time in my player, with the windows down and the radio up. By far my favorite song is 'God Only Knows', though I also enjoy 'Wouldn't It Be Nice', 'Kokomo', and 'Sloop John B', but the entire album is pleasant to listen to on a summer day.Complete package of Beach Boys hits.

With "20 Good Vibrations: The Greatest Hits (Volume 1)" I have many of the band's best songs all on one CD.As a casual Beach Boys fan, I have no idea if the album is a complete catalog of the band's best; nor do I know if it is an accurate representation of their greatest hits. Better with the second and third volumes. Sure, I was born long after the band reached its peak, but their songs have defined days spent in the water, long sunny nights, and the feeling of freedom.

I don't know. I do know, however, that I like the album. The lyrics to Beach Boys songs aren't deep and in-depth, but the songs themselves provide a nice backdrop to the warmest time of year.

Can't answer that, either. And that's true enjoyment.
